Tea Tasting Policies

BOOKING

Only those bookings that are completed in writing 30 days or more before the event will be honored. Verbal agreements will not constitute a booking. Written agreements must be signed and dated by the event host and Kathleen Heeter to be valid. To book your tasting, please complete the agreement on page 4 and mail to Kathleens Kitchen 6643 St Rt 6643 Continental, OH 45831 or take a picture of the form and text it to 419.438.4757. Once your booking is agreed upon and scheduled, Kathleen will text a signed copy to you.

PROGRAM

The Tea Tasting Presentation consists of reading A Call to Tea by Thich Nhat Hanh, a detailed description of each selected tea, instruction on effective methods for tasting teas, and a brief explanation of the history and culture of tea. Each tasting typically lasts between 1 ½ - 2 hours. As the hostess, you can choose to have me set up a retail display for your guests to purchase a variety of teas following the event. There is no additional fee for set-up or a retail display. Any organizational business or religious services/presentations must be conducted prior to or following the tasting program.

FEES & PAYMENTS

The fee for Private Tea Tastings is $30/person.  A minimum of 6 guests is required with a maximum of 24 guests. A deposit of $100 is required to book an event. Bookings must be made 30 days prior to the event. The menu and guest count must be finalized 14 days prior to the event. Full payment is required 5 days prior to the event. Bookings that are not paid in full 5 days prior to the event date will be considered cancelled and will not be eligible for refunds.

Guest totals that change withing 5 days of the event cannot be guaranteed. Guests added between 2-5 days prior to the event will be charged a premium of $35. Additional guests may not be added within 48 hours of the event. Place settings and menu items will not be provided for guests who are added within 48 hours of the event.

Electronic Payment may be made via Zelle to 419.438.4757, Venmo to Kathleens Kitchen HBG @AdventuresWithTea or Credit Card/Debit Card via Square Invoice from Kathleens Kitchen. Personal Checks will not be accepted. Cash payment will be accepted however it is ill advised that cash be sent through the mail. Kathleens Kitchen is not responsible for lost or stolen payments sent via mail or other delivery service.

CANCELATIONS

Deposits are refundable up to 13 days before the event. After that time, preparations will begin on some menu items. If changes become necessary, the host may choose to reschedule the event to another date or accept a $75 refund on the deposit. Cancellations made 5-7 days prior to the event may be eligible for a $50 refund on the deposit. Cancellations made between 2 – 4 days prior to the event may be eligible for a $25 refund on the deposit and a 25% refund on remaining food cost. Cancellations made of less than 48 hours of the event will not be eligible for refund. In the event of inclement weather, the host may choose to reschedule the event at no additional cost or choose to cancel the event for a 90% refund.

INCLEMENT WEATHER

Inclement weather is defined as conditions that are unsafe for travel to/from the location of the event. Examples include but are not limited to

  • A level 3 snow emergency in the county surrounding the event

  • Flooding or flash flooding at the site of the event

  • Tornado warning/watch in the region surrounding the event

  • Large hail, freezing rain, or sleet

The host will be responsible for communicating an inclement weather policy to their guests. Kathleens Kitchen does not assume responsibility for any loss or damages that may occur due to inclement weather.

SET-UP & CLEAN-UP

The event facility must be available for set-up 2 hours prior to the scheduled event. Smaller gatherings may require less time to set-up but Kathleen will confirm such arrangements with the hostess. All tables and chairs should be in place before Kathleen arrives. Table coverings are the responsibility of the host. Table decoration/centerpieces are the responsibility of the host. Tables should be placed in such a way that Kathleen is able to maneuver around them with a cart or tray.

 

The host is responsible for wiping all tables and chairs, sweeping and moping the floors and emptying the trash. Kathleen will be responsible for removing all the place settings, serving trays and serving dishes within 1 hour of the event conclusion. The host is welcome to any leftover food or tea; however, they must provide their own carryout containers.

BAKED GOOD ORDERING POLICIES

ORDERING

Baked goods are made by pre-order only so that your items will be fresh and delicious. Payment is expected when the order is made. Changes to pre-orders may be subject to ingredient availability and/or my baking schedule. 

PICKUP & DELIVERY

Baked goods are only available for pickup or local delivery. I am unable to ship prepared foods at this time.​ Delivery is available for orders of $30 or more. A delivery fee of 75 cents per mile will be added to all delivery orders.​ Customers who fail to pick-up their order on time will not be eligible for refund and may not be permitted to pre-order again in the future. Customers who are not at the designated delivery location at the delivery time will not be eligible for refund and may not be permitted to pre-order again in the future.

PAYMENT

Kathleen's Kitchen accepts cash, Zelle Venmo, PayPal, and CashApp and most major credit cards, debit cards. I do not accept personal checks.

Items are available for refund at Kathleen's discretion only when returned prior to the "Best By" date printed on the item label along with a copy of the receipt.
